Amy McAllaster M.A., M.A., LPC

I have been practicing as a therapist for 25 years. I still desperately love what I do and have not lost my passion for helping people navigate life.

I began my training in 1999 in a crisis center, and once licensed, I jumped right into private practice. I worked exclusively with children and adolescents for 5 years, then expanded to parent coaching and family therapy alongside my work with kiddos.  However, for the past 20 years, I have worked primarily with adult women and men, and have become absolutely obsessed with relationship and marital work.

In addition to my Colorado license, I have two Master’s degrees, one of which is in Marriage and Family Therapy. This gives me added training in the systems, families, and relationships in which we exist and how they impact our overall well-being.

Real change comes from honest feedback, and I strive to combine compassion with the truth of what I’m seeing. After years of doing my own work and years of sitting with people doing their work, I have become skilled at efficiently helping people get to the ROOTS of their problems and patterns.

I pull most heavily from the psychodynamic approach and Relational Work. But I also regularly use CBT, DBT, and ACT therapies. In my work with couples and relationships,  I draw most regularly from Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman methods. I work best with people with some therapy experience who want to go deeper. My passions as a therapist include relationships, attachment, and attachment styles, codependence, motherhood, divorce, and healing from divorce, anxiety, and family of origin work, boundaries, dealing with, and healing from narcissistic relationships, coparenting, and blended or nesting families.

In addition to my work with individuals and couples, I offer virtual therapeutic group work for women.

I have been married and divorced, and I have two teenage sons. I love all things ocean or mountain, hanging with my two boys, baking, and sports. I’m an avid reader and binger on HGTV.
